I meant "a better time" as in "a time when it wouldn't look so damn bait-and-switch," but like I said, I realise his consituents sort of knew they were getting a Republican in all but name anyway. And in Champaign at least, I'm sure they were fine with that. (My dad's family is from there.)
Yeah. Quite seriously, when you're all in name anyway, you might as well just go ahead and make the jump. Better you be honest about that and the fact that the other national party is really a better fit for you than your current one (*coughcough*Zell*coughcough*).
And if your constituents didn't know that you were basically all in name part of the other party anyway... well, either you did a really good job covering up your job record and opinions, or you have free reign to do whatever you want because they don't care enough to double-check you anyway.
