The new computer, running Mozilla, displays the Cyrillic in the posts of [livejournal.com profile] daily_russian without my doing a thing.

And it just sucked the 1.5 Gig of MP3s off my external hard drive in about a minute via firewire, after it took the old computer about an hour to put them on the external hard drive via USB.

I've given iChat the cute-ectomy that I require in order to keep using it. (I also tried Fire but it didn't import my buddy list and screw that.)

I connected to my old computer over the wireless router last night to get the rest of my files off the old computer. I still have 44 Gigs free. And an external hard drive.

It's the little things: this is nothing I didn't expect the new computer to be capable of. But it's so cool that it's working without a hitch. I even installed extra memory without trouble on the first try, something the old machine refused to let me do.

And best of all? I paid a pretty reasonable price for the whole deal.

I just vanity searched myself in Academic Search Premiere to see if, by chance, my second review had come out in the October Choice or the November Choice. There is no new citation in ASP.

Then I checked booksinprint.com, where you have to look under the title of the reviewed work, which is Desk Encyclopedia of Microbiology. My review is there, dated November 1st, so I guess it'll be in November issue. Ohhhhyes.

That's one more goal for this year down.

Now to go get punkins for carving.
