Honored Yuletide Writer,

Hello! I'm so glad we're doing this. I haven't signed up since 2016 and I am glad to be back. I hope you're excited to be doing this too.

I know we will be writing during difficult times in the world, so please know, first of all, that I'm excited to be participating at all, and I'm a pretty flexible reader as things go. You can take a look at my bookmarks on AO3 at

https://archiveofourown.org/users/dlemur/bookmarks

if you'd like a sense of what I have enjoyed over the past few years, in a variety of fandoms.

I like it queer, whatever kind of queer you wanna include, and I like gender exploration and gender euphoria if you think that fits into your idea. I love stories where characters find resolution and comfort and companionship even if things in the rest of the world are pretty damn bleak, and I like stories about happy times too. I will absolutely read explicit sex, even moderately kinky stuff and I'm deeply polyamory friendly. I like stories of special events and being with one's chosen family and having good times and good meals together. I also like suspense, dread, nervous anticipation, close calls and creepy chills! Shenanigans and hilarity would be welcome. I love displays of competence and smarts. I'm interested in canon divergence, tell-it-again-from-another-perspective, what-happened-after stories, what-if? stories, and AUs or crossovers that happen in these contexts.

Overall, my requested characters are just ones I definitely want to have some quality time with; additional characters are welcome. DNW list is included in each request.

Thank you so much for participating. If you get anxiety around writing for an exchange, or for Yuletide in particular, thank you for braving this anyway. Please think of it as an excuse to tell me a story. If you want to write it like you're telling me your fandom thoughts in DMs for me to read on a coffee break during my workday? GO FOR IT. Also, I read French, Russian, and Chinese fairly well, and I'm not going to freak out about your grammar or whatever, so please, write something that brings you joy, that you think I'll be able to enjoy with you.

Thanks,

Coreomajoris

PS: Yes, I do accept treats, so if any of the prompts I did appeal to you, please feel free! I'm hoping to write at least one treat this year.

Requests:

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Diana Wynne Jones

Characters: Christopher Chant

I would love any other nominated character you wish to write, along with Christopher.

In the case of Christopher Chant, I just love his experiences as he grows up, and with the variety of people around him. The Lives of Christopher Chant has been a comfort read for me since I was 11. I want shenanigans, whether it's at school, at magic lessons, in cahoots with Millie, exploring the mansion, with Throgmorten being Throgmorten, annoying various adults (with or without the help of Throgmorten). What happens after the events of the book? What's he like as he grows up further? If you have a what-if idea, I'm game! (I would like to know what Throgmorten's up to, too.)

回响 | Echo (TV 2023)

Characters: Mu Dafu, Ran Dongdong

Other characters absolutely welcome in addition to the requested ones.

For 回响 | Echo I want more of Ran Dongdong and Mu Dafu's messy, weird, interesting lives as a couple and as a family. What do their parents make of their separation and reuniting? What are things like from their daughter's perspective, in addition to clearly loving her ba and ma very much? Does some future case make Ran Dongdong get obsessive again? Does Mu Dafu get wrapped up in some new sort of weirdness related to academic politics or flirting colleagues? I want to see them, I dunno, being their weird and clearly very fond selves with each other, even as they continue to be messy people. Flashbacks to their younger days, featuring Mu Dafu's flashback hair (which, let's be honest, is a character in its own right)? They decide to seduce Shao Tianwei together? (That'd be hot!) Have fun.

有翡 | Legend of Fei (TV)

Characters: Zhou Fei, Xie Yun

Other characters also welcome in addition to the ones I requested.

With Legend of Fei, I love Xie Yun being a wifeguy so if that's your thing have at it. But I ALSO polyship Xie Yun and A'Fei because everyone wants to get in on one or other of their deals, or both! Do they tell each other about their past hookups? Did cousin Zhang Chenfei take advantage of meeting his musical idol to engage in some hanky panky? What REALLY happened when Xie Yun had to take a bath while handcuffed to Li Sheng? Did sexy things happen when A'Fei and Chuchu were in hiding together? Spouse swapping with Li Sheng and Wu Chuchu? What if Li Sheng is ace as heck and Chuchu has regular sexy nights with Yunfei? My reaction to this fandom is a whole lot of mashing characters together and yelling "now kisssss," if you could not tell. Does not have to be mature or explicit, but if you wanna go there, HIT ME. (And if you don't, I may have to make a Five Times fic out of this some day. Hmmmm.)

追风者 | War of Faith (TV)

Characters: no characters requested

I'm really hoping that Yuletide this year gets people writing more War of Faith fic. I just want more, more, more, even though I realize parts of it are so good it's hard to know where to begin. I do love a good old Shenlai fic. I also ship Ruolai/A'Wen (see my recent work), Cishu/Jinzhen, Xu Nuo/Lei Ming (clearly they're old friends, what did they get up to together and were they boyfriends?!?), Jinzhen/Chunmiao (I just think of Chunmiao throwing herself into Jinzhen's arms and saying "Jiejie, make him stop!"). I like the idea of Tunan/Cishu/Ruolai (because that's hot as heck), Tunan/Hansi/Ruolai (show him what y'all got up to as university students in Germany, lads), Lin Qiaosong/Wen Biao (oh, the grimy icky fealty they have going). I'm consenting to be surprised, here. Sexy times? Spy sneaking? Financial competence kink? Is Huang Congyun secretly an alien? Hit me.

I'm still very mentally ill. Right now, anyway. This post is gonna be about that and it's going to talk about my disabilities, mental health, some intrusive thoughts, stuff like that.

I found myself thinking, this morning, as I was driving home from running a few errands: "Am I back? I might be back." I didn't mean with regard to this DW specifically, though I think I might be back here too, over the coming months. I meant more generally.

I am just getting through a little glut of stressful moments and bad things happening in groups. My errand today was purchasing a new refrigerator, on the day after I just replaced the dishwasher, I was thinking about how all you can do is hope that the third bad thing (if you subscribe to the "bad things happen in threes" perspective) has happened or will be over with soon, or whatever form of hoping you'll get a god damned break, that you prefer.

Hi! It's February 1, 2024. It's Rabbit Year or Cat Year for one more week. Let's do this.

Hi! I'm Coreo. You may know me from Mastodon as coreo @ wandering.shop, or as coreopsismajor on bsky or formerly on twitter. I put Mx Coreo Jones on my name badge at cons. On Tumblr I'm coreomajoris. I am coreomajoris/digitalemur/dlemur on Archive of our Own. Coreo is pronounced kor-ee-oh.

I am a lifelong SFF fan, currently also interested in Chinese media and culture, both SFF and otherwise. This space is the likely home of my fan writing and essays on SFF and other media. My educational background is in biochemistry/molecular biology with a broad base in other sciences, and in library and information science. I do library and technology things as a day job. Feel free to interact with me in Russian, Mandarin/Simplified Chinese, or French, but beware that my written conversation is middling in Mandarin and Russian, and very iffy in French. Feel free to comment in whichever language works for you if you're okay with me using Google translate on it.

You're welcome to link to any of my public posts. I have gone through and weeded my old follower lists and I will be slow to follow back, but you are also welcome to follow if you'd like. This blog may sometimes include adult content from dick jokes up to more detailed sexual content. You are welcome to follow/unfollow/block as you like, whenever you like. I do the same.

Regardless of the details, it's not good when you're reading a novel and you think, "Ooooh, that's bad, I know what happened to Rosalind Franklin." This applies regardless of whether the issue is sexism and recognition in science, or whether it's ovarian cancer. Ouch.

I have to hand it to the author, though, for not killing off either of the people I presumed were goners.

Tonight, I will have ramen.

Why?

Because tonight it will be ten years to the day from when I made a small gesture that has netted the biggest of rewards in my life.

I invited [livejournal.com profile] a_dodecahedron to come over for ramen.

Happy Ramen Day, my dear.

PS: No, I don't have any idea when Varelse Day is. And yes, I think we'd heard that joke by year two.

[livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus, I see your Tweenbots wandering the streets of New York, and I raise you Classic Queen on Classic Electronics.

I hate things that buzz. That this youtube clip got me actually LIKING a buzzy thing is astounding. I realized it was my favorite instrument in this... and then I realized it was going to get to rock out on one of my favorite parts of the song... and then it did in fact rock out.

I am full of love for technology.

ETA: By the way, did I mention that I only found out last week that the song's actual title is "Daisy Bell?" And just now I found out it was first sung by an IBM 704 in 1962 at Bell Labs Murray Hill. (And Clarke happened to be visiting, so he lifted the idea of a computer singing "Daisy Bell" and made it famous.) Oh, the internets, I love you so.

Yesterday I bought a reciprocating saw and a random orbit sander.

They just sold them to me. Gift card money, in fact.

I am amazed that they'll just let me out of the store with powerful electrical tools like that. Shouldn't I have to take a class? Get a permit?

It was scary to stand in front of all the miter saws and realize that I can buy one of _those_ whenever I want, too. I'm not ready for that sort of responsibility! (And also, I really hate circular saw noise even more than other power tool noise. As it is I need earplugs for things that do not bother typical human beings.)

I dunno, guys, I'm not really a grownup yet, I dunno why they're letting me buy a house and power tools and shit!

ETA: OMG I NEED A SHOPVAC!

I got home Tuesday night from Texas, but I only dug back into my Gmail this morning, and I haven't taken a look at LJ since last Friday. So, uh, if you need anything, email me or phone or tell me here?

Oh, but wait, I _have_ caught up enough to see [livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus' Very Important Poll with the best tag ever.

Wow, so many things get better when you replace select words like "peace," "mankind," and "hope" with "monkeys."

Wow Wait Wait is really good this week! Ravelers make me proud!

I love the moist air coming from a dryer vent. Especially when it means I'm done building a dryer vent duct and my clothes are drying! Woo!

I think The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society has the best ensemble cast of characters I've read in a modern novel since The Sparrow. That the characters and the plot also express great love of Pride and Prejudice makes it ever better. Good heavens, what a wonderful book. I think I will have to purchase my own copy ASAP.

I may have to name my next cat Solange. I told Oz of this and he doesn't know what to make of it.

ETA: Any book that can have me sobbing on the bathroom rug at 10:30 AM, and howling with laughter over old ladies with vendettas against the Duchess of Windsor by 12:30 PM, is a good book.

Questies are ROCKSTARS. Great game, great GMs as usual, great staff, great PCs.

You guys are all awesome.

I'm going to sleep now.

That hair I wear when I play Charlie? It's all getting cut off tomorrow. Sorry, Owen.

Sleep. NOW.
