Hey, I just caught half of the video for Anna Nalick's "Breathe (2 AM)" on VH1.

The video is not as good as the song, but it's purty. And hott. And the music's a bit different, or at least there's a point in the video where they just sort of fade out the instrumental tracks for a while. I wish I'd seen the first half, because I sort of want to know how the hell they visualized the first two verses.

Dang, there's a part in "Cryptonomicon" where Randy is musing about how Amy's music collection consists of material by young women singer-songwriters, the sort of music for lonely, misunderstood, determinedly individual women that EVERY lonely misunderstood determinedly individual woman has.

I wish I could remember how that part went in the book, though, because I watched this video and found myself thinking of it.

And hey, at least they market to us now; a few decades ago we weren't supposed to exist.

Hmm.

I find a bibliography page on the death penalty for some (anonymous QandA virtual reference) caller.

Their response? "Thank you, bitch."

I still don't get what compels them to say stuff like that. I guess it's just an online sort of pranking; they've learned not to do it until we've actually given them a page they want, instead of starting out with it like they used to.

*shrug*

Dagnabbit, when I was a kid, we sporked lawns! Good clean fun. (Though I did want to put the sporks in a pattern spelling out something like that, for my obnoxious neighbor up the road....)
