There was just a line about "Thoreau with a lawnmower." And they've both given Hannah crap about entirely different things in the past 10 minutes. Hannah has a wacky German accent just like the women in Mister Jimmy's movies.
Could a straight man have played James? I'm not sure. But Ian McKellen is perfect.
