Yesterday morning and this morning, I've had energy when I woke up. I open my eyes and, yeah I'd love to sleep some more, but I feel... perky. Very alert, anyway.

I haven't felt that way upon waking in months. Is it the placebo effect from finally starting to take my levothyroxine correctly, in the morning on an empty stomach? (The hormone itself can't be doing this-- besides, I think yesterday I forgot to take it at all after all of my careful planning!)

Or is it the happy lamp?

I just hope it lasts. Being so tired you decide to nap on the floor of the bathroom while waiting for the shower to heat up is not a good feeling.

HB posted this earlier in the morning. I'm repeating it, because it's important, and because I was banging my head on my desk right along with her.

I responded in the comments on her post, and I'll repeat what I said, for everyone's benefit: "Wow, some homos somewhere REALLY need a cluephone. Holy shit."

Anyway, I think y'all should go to demonstrations against Prop 8 if you feel so moved. But I hope you will question anyone who claims that we should be blaming blacks for Prop 8, and anyone who claims that the anti-racism struggle is over. I'm sure The Advocate hoped to be controversial with this headline, but I don't feel welcomed by their coverage, not welcomed at all. I'm still working on anti-racism-- what the heck are they trying to say?

And that's why I was not at a demonstration last weekend. I'm still for the cause, obviously, but I'm not sure I'll be welcomed. Please spread the word: this isn't okay, and it's fragmenting the queer rights movement. Meanwhile, racism is still not dead.

Edit: To be specific: I don't see this headline as blaming blacks. I see this headline as implying that anti-racism is somehow over and done with, or passé in the face of queer rights, or something. Which is bad in a normal month. But in a month when high profile queer columnists have been blaming blacks, it's extra bad right now. Someone asked about this, so I figured it was worth the clarification. And I wouldn't be surprised if some members of the Advocate offices do blame blacks, because the Advocate comes across as being the product of well-off white male queers.

Do you guys remember how McNeil used to hold the megaphone system out the bus windows and belt "Mandy" at the city of New Haven while we were driving out to field practice?

This reminds me of that.
