So I had this moment on the way home.

I was listening to the radio, and a song came on that made me say, "If that song is _not_ played for us to dance to at [livejournal.com profile] havenstone's wedding, I will be sad." Cuz [livejournal.com profile] havenstone loves his music to dance to, and this song I identify with him, more than any other.

Wanna guess what it was? Have at it. Wanna say which song _you_ would have said that about? Have at it. Don't know him and want to guess anyway? Have at it, what the hell.

Oh, and off topic: eye doctor visit was fine, I ordered new GPs through her for fitting, and I got a scrip for new glasses. And driving with dilated pupils was a bit fuzzy, but I fed Sienna and hung out a bit and then went home, and it was cool. Lack of sunshine helped. Yay.

So guess away!

UPDATE: Melissa N-H mailed me with her guess, which turned out to be correct! It was "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba. She says that last hint was more than enough. Yay!

Well, I'm glad it helps something, anyway... :-(

I know, we were talking about that at the office and we were glad to finally find something positive about all this stupid rain. Stupid rain! It's cold at my house and I'm too cheap to turn on the heat.

dang, i'm so bad at song titles. 'i'm the brains, you are the ...." song that he and lauren always co-danced to.

alternatively, the song about returning to sender, no guarantees. definitely both songs that i alway remember joel dancing to, when i hear them!

Oooooh! Yeah! I remember that song! It wasn't the one on the radio though. The one on the radio is more recent, I think.

That's exactly the one I was going to say!

Either that or 'She's Got The Look'.

Ooooooh! Another good one! From the right era, at least, though not the same style as the song I heard on the radio.

A good one, but already associated with my college roommate the U2 fan, so that wasn't it. Man I love that song. I need to go listen to it _now_....

BNL's "Stunt" (or something by them)?

Which I can almost sing.

I have a few songs that do make me think of him, but he's also referred me to half my CD collection, so that sorta follows... :)

Whereas the other half of your CD collection, you have referred to me. To my great joy and the great advantage of the listening public. Soul Miner's Daughter has a few more mournful fans, thanks to you. (Come back! Or Cory, just find a new chanteuse and write more songs!)

As for Sarah's question: I am sure that when she reveals it, I'll be all like Of Course Duh.

But my song reference points have switched a bit since I started playing guitar -- now I associate songs with me that I like to play, and I've forgotten lots of the ones I used to dance to.

Um. George Michael's Freedom, or Faith? (Not more recent) The Boss-Tones' Impression That I Get? (aka "I've never had to knock your mom...") Dave Matthews' Ants Marching? Or the Refreshments' Banditos? ("Your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard...") A-Ha's Take On Me? How many guesses to I get?

Hee! Your mom! Man, remember the night we played the Your Mom game at Gittzus' place until like 2 AM, with Anthony playing via ntalk from CA? That was awesome.

And yeah, Banditos totally makes me think of you and Julian.

Okay. Here's a hint: I don't remember which it was, but this song was one I believe you had already heard in Britain during Yale in London, and either you brought it back with you, or when it got big here you already knew it.

And NO, this does NOT mean it's anything by the spice girls.

Can't remember the exact title but does it go:

"i would walk 500 miles,
and I would walk 500 more,
just to be the man who walked a 1000 miles
to be the one beside your door."

Either that or "Walking around in Circles"

Wow. There are a _lot_ of obvious choices here. That song is one _I_ learned around the same time, but it isn't the song I heard either. I think [livejournal.com profile] havenstone might get it if he reads what I wrote back, above, and it's a bit unfair to you cuz I don't think you really knew him then.

500 Miles is Ladybird and my's song, in my mind.

I would have guessed it correctly, but was busy with family stuff.

The other songs I associate with havenstone are SMD's Hallelujah and "I wish I was a little bit taller." And, of course, What a Good Boy. The Duke's Men version.
