I bought a traditional alcohol thermometer for home health use yesterday.

It seems to be stuck at 98.9F.

Yes, I shook it down.

Yes, I ran it under cool water.

Yes, I've done these things multiple times.

What the hell?

It's much cheaper to just paint the line at something comforting than to actually fill the thermometer.

I have the hardest time with traditional thermometers. Usually being stuck like that means they are crazy old and/or cracked somewhere.
